How To Make Expensive Looking Professional Drapes in a day
I was tired of my plain windows. I had all the furniture in the same room, but nothing at my window.
Here's the dilemma. I'm moving to Texas in a few months ... so what I decided to do had to be versatile enough to use in the windows of the house in Texas. Therefore, I would not do anything to adapt it could not reuse the material.
I did not want to spend too time in this project. After all, I'm just going to be home for a couple of months.
What I came up with was simple, but beautiful drapes they were super easy to do. And I'll show you how!
I made a total of 8 panels ... 2 by the window. I averaged 2 panels of a night. Thus, you can dress a window in one day.
The bars cost me $ 25 each ... A total of $ 100.
The fabric of the sale cost me around $ 300.
I was able to give my room softness, drama, color and a touch of designer for less than $ 500. These would have cost almost $ 4000 if I had a design professional and make these for me.
So, here's how to do them.
1. Install curtain rods. Install these first and hang the rings you're using.
2. Measure from the bottom of the ring on the floor. Subtract 1 / 4 ". This is his final length.
3. That is going to use the entire width fabric for the width of your panel.
4. Cut the fabric and the lining:
Width = width fabric cutting fabric (trim selfage if the fabric does not provide smooth and flat)
Cut fabric length = finished length + 10 "(bottom edge) + 14 (heading)
Cut lining width = width Fabric - 3 "
Cutting trim length = finished length + 4 "(bottom edge) + 2"
5. Sew the bottom hem
Fold the bottom edge of the fabric up to 5 "and double click .... another 5" and press. Pin. Sew a blind hem point. You can also sew the hem in the place with a straight seam.
Fold the bottom edge of row 2 "and press ... bend another 2" and press. Pin. Sew a blind hem point. Also able to sew the hem in place with a straight seam.
6. Sew the lining and fabric together
Place the fabric right side up
Place the lining the right side so that the bottom is 1 "above the bottom edge of the fabric.
Align one side edge ... Pin and sew with a 1 / 2 "seam. Repeat with the other side.
Turn right shade. Its fabric is folded on the side facing 1 1 / 2. "Carefully press the curtain so that the fabric is even on both sides of the wall. Pin in place to keep the layers from slipping.
7. Place the cloth lining up
8. Times in the raw side edges of the fabric and pin. Stitch in place with a straight seam.
9. Tuck the edges of the fabric at the bottom corners of the bottom hem ... , A point of the bottom corners into place.
10. Place the cloth again siding
11. Measure from the bottom of the final length and mark with a couple pins
12. Fold the top edge to the lining side so the top edge is about 1 "beyond the pin you just placed. Pin the top edge instead.
13. Stitch the upper edge of the curtain along nailed measuring step 11
14. Clip or sew the curtain rings curtain along the suture line
15. When hanging the curtain, the fabric is folded forward. Arrange and fold the fabric to your liking.
And there you have it! Gorgeous, professional quality curtains that can add some serious class to any room. You can make formal curtain fabrics silk and a strip along the fringe that bent over the edge. Or you may have more informal as the curtains of the photo.
