What would you recommend cloth costume for a basic sewing machine brother?

I have a machine very basic sewing (Brother LS-260) and I'm doing a superhero costume, I want the PVC or vinyl look but have no idea if my sewing machine can handle these tissues, or what the difference. Is there more thin tissues with similar visual aesthetic? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
