Choose fabric color using the color wheel Ives

Several years ago, I decided that I would like to explore the world of fabric dyeing. It was in the dyeing fabric really learned about color, and the difference between yellow-green and blue-green.

By mixing the colors to tint, suddenly, the resulting colors more sense, and now, many yards of fabric dyed later, it's easier for me to choose the colors for a quilt.

In fact, seeing what color is the result of a mixture of 1 / 4 yellow and 3 / 4 red versus 1 / 2 yellow and 1 / 2 red, everything makes more sense.

What is interesting is that when I took the class, the teacher provided the dye to make the colors you see in the tissue samples below. I realized that red was the color magenta, rather than what is normally reflected in red. (The teacher called fuchsia.)

And the blue was more of a turquoise instead of a traditional blue. But since everything was new for me anyway, I do not really question the differences.

It was just today, as it was once again thinking about color that I encountered something of an explanation of difference. Not that this is a complete explanation, but they do offer an idea.

It turns out this guy named Dr. Herbert Ives led AT & T Research television during the 1920s and 1930s. Herbert's interest in color began at an early age because his father invented the techniques of color photography and half-tone process. These techniques made printing pictures in newspapers and magazines as possible.

And Herbert created a color wheel is composed of three "pure" colors. The true meaning of all this is that the fabric dye, use the Ives color wheel, as was evident when I took the tissue dyeing class.

The three pure colors are: magenta, turquoise and yellow. The vivid colors of these individuals is remarkable, and when mixed with each other in specific formulas that create the most powerful colors and beautiful surroundings.

The Ives Color Wheel features the pure colors magenta, turquoise and yellow.

Quilts made primarily with these pure colors immediately attract attention, whether they are displayed in a quilt show or your home.

Quilting daughter, Stephanie, and I made a pure color quilt together years ago. We chose the colors, just because they were fun and bright. We did not know that these are examples of pure colors in the color wheel Ives and colors created by mixing pure colors together.

The interesting thing about these colors, and possibly the quilt, is that the colors of this intensity are hard to see for any period of time. Maybe that's why, after about 6 years, still not fully padded .... Moreover, there is probably something else going on.

When choosing the colors of a rug, you may wish to note that these intense colors can affect the state sentiments of the people looking at them. If you are making a quilt for a child who already has a high activity level, you may not want to use these colors, It would stimulate the child even more.

However, if you have a dull and boring room, like the all-around brown I had in my living room does many years, adding pure colors illuminate the room. In my case, I probably would have taken a truckload of pure brown colors dominate.

These pure colors and their variations, are found in nature, and it is interesting to note that if colors are shades and shades depending on the season. I know that probably it makes little sense.

However, it works this way. A dye includes all colors from white to pure color real. Cakes are good examples of the nuances, and pastels are the colors of Spring - Robin's egg blue, peach, apricot, mint green, etc.

When you add black to a pure color, you get a tone color. As you can imagine, the tones are the colors of autumn. When you add black to red, you get a rust color - shades of autumn leaves to fall from the trees.

A tone is what you get when you add gray (not black) to a pure color. These are the colors of winter, and usually are soothing colors. These colors are ideal for bedrooms and quilts for children.

The real question in my mind is "who created the more" traditional "conference color and why? "
